Coronary artery disease (CAD) causes severe disability and more death than any other disease in affluent societies, including cancer. The medical conditions associated with it are angina, ischaemia, unstable angina, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure and sudden death.Choosing the appropriate investigation to confirm a diagnosis helps to assess risk and determine the correct treatment path. GPs also need to know the effective life-style and risk-factor modifications in addition to advocating the best medical therapy.

A book of 150 12-lead ECGs and rhythm strips with a clinical question attached. The full ECG is reproduced in small scale and a study of it with the case history should be enough to give an answer. On the back the case is examined, further investigations recommended and clinical summary given. The cases are graded in difficulty.

ECG Success: Exercises in ECG Interpretation
Publisher: F. A. Davis Company | 281 pages |
The key to ECG interpretation is pattern recognition, and pattern recognition is developed the same way as any skill-through repetition. ECG Success illustrates the key features of dozens of arrhythmias and presents multiple practice strips to allow the student to learn the subtle findings that help distinguish one from another. Organized by the seven categories of arrhythmias, ECG Success reviews the basics of ECGs (anatomy, physiology, electrophysiology, etc.), and provides a diverse group of strips for practice and testing pattern recognition. In addition, the book includes three practice tests, each with 100 randomized ECG strips, and a unit with more than ten case studies with multiple-choice questions and more ECG strips.Publisher: F. A. Davis Company | 281 pages |
ECG Success covers all the information needed-anatomy and physiology, practice, case scenarios, and relevant emergency care-to help the reader feel competent and in control, whether faced with a nonthreatening ECG or an emergency situation.

Hundreds of world authorities, many of them new to this edition, synthesize all of the recent developments that are revolutionizing practice - from the newest findings in molecular biology and genetics to the latest imaging modalities, interventional procedures, and medications. The expertise of the book's contributors, the scope of its coverage, and its richly illustrated, user-friendly format all make this the ultimate reference for the practicing cardiologist.
Review:
This is one of the most comprehensive textbooks I have ever come across. It truly leaves no stones unturned and each area is covered in impressive scope and depth. It is an indispensable source of reference for cardiologists and non-cardiologists alike.
The online version is very user-friendly and follows the same format as the textbook. One added bonus is the update feature where all the most recent advances are updated regularly and inserted into the relevant chapters. The CDROM contains a generous number of very well chosen, good quality slides which can be imported for use in presentations.
I would strongly recommend this textbook as a worthy addition to the medical library of any primary or secondary care physician and the online version makes it a very practical reference tool for everyday use.
